Refugee Homelessnes |
|

| - Homelessness is on the rise. In inner boroughs across London, social services, voluntary and community organisations, and statutory bodies record increasing number of homeless, both men and women.
- Yet this growing group is significantly different from the past. In ‘super diverse’ London many homeless are now refugees. And many among them are young, in growing number teenagers. Thus this recent homeless population presents fresh challenges for policy makers, service providers and academics as it brings into relief a novel set of causes, needs and possible interventions.
- It also underlines how traditional definitions of homelessness remain inadequate to describe this increasingly diverse homeless population and how best to effectively address its needs.
- The research report in partnership with Middlesex University focuses on the causes of homelessness among refugees, in particular on homelessness among young refugees in Hackney & Islington.
- What are the key issues surrounding Refugee Homelessness? What can local authorities and the Government do to support Refugees facing homelessness?
- This DVD contains interviews with Refugees who are homeless or have faced homelessness, their struggle to find a place in society, as well as service providers and campaigners.
